Crunchy Diva Designs Exclusive African Gold Weight Casting Collection
These pendants were cast from antique African Akan gold weights from the early 1900's. These weights were used to weigh gold dust, which was the currency until it was related with paper money and coins. Each weight had a known measurement and these provided merchants with a secure and fair trades with one another. Beyond the practical application, the weights are representational of West African culture. Crunchy Diva Designs has named each one after a city in West Africa.
The Abidjan antique brass pendant is 1" X 1/2" and the brass chain is 18" long. Each necklace comes with an informational card and a cloth bag for safe keeping.
